Autism

One of my girls has autism and anxiety disorder. She is very young. I am still learning about all of it. My girl is high functioning, in that blurry borderland between Aspergers / Autism. She is also a classic example of a girl on spectrum … exceptional in all things. Quirky and fun, frustrating and stubborn. Unfortunately, there are so few girls on spectrum to compare and contrast.

We live in an era of early diagnosis and early intervention. It all still sucks and can seem like a death march of doctors, diagnosis, therapies and books that tell you how you are doing everything wrong.

You are not doing everything wrong.

I have started a community on Circle of Mom’s that, hopefully, will grow in to a real support center for parents facing the challenge of raising healthy, happy and strong daughters on spectrum.

You can do a search on this site by typing “autism in to the search box at the top of this blog and it will pull up various posts on our journey.

Here are a list of books that shed light on Autism and Aspergers.
